When you shop for insurance, you need to find an agency with a good
reputation that cares and has shown longevity. Bluhm Insurance Agency in Northeast Pa., has displayed
those traits since 1964.
Ervin H. Bluhm, a farm boy from Towanda, started Bluhm Insurance Agency
after working for Tuscarora-Wayne. He relocated to Tunkhannock in 1964 and became an independent agent wanting
to provide more insurance options for customers with the best policies at affordable prices.
In 1974, Erv's son, Jeffrey, joined the agency and eventually took over in 1988. Jeffrey still runs the
Tunkhannock-based agency today. Karen Bluhm-Brown, Erv's daughter, joined the Tunkhannock team in 2003. She
assumed the role as an agent/broker.
Erv had also purchased another agency in Honesdale, Pa. in the late 70's, which another son, David, took over.
That agency is still owned and operated by David and is known as D.R. Bluhm Insurance Agency. Ervin dabbled in
both agencies and the insurance business until his passing in 2000.
